Even if you feel like you do not need your teeth cleaned, it is still important to come in for regular dental cleanings and here’s why:

  • You may have plaque and tartar beneath your gum line and between your teeth. In fact, if you brush and floss thoroughly, you teeth may feel fresh and smooth, but bacteria and tartar often creep into hard-to-reach places that your toothbrush bristles and floss cannot reach.
  • Our professional hygienists are thorough and gentle when it comes to treating our patients. We design your hygiene appointment to meet your needs. In fact, if you take excellent care of your teeth, we will remove any tartar and bacteria, provide you with a polish that removes small plaque particles and surface stains so that your smile looks and feels great.
  • A professional dental cleaning includes a polish with a fine grit professional toothpaste to remove stains from your teeth. Coffee, tea, soda, fruits, vegetables, and tobacco use can all cause your smile to darken. A professional polish removes surface stains and gives your smile a youthful appearance.
  • We monitor your health at your professional dental cleaning appointment. Your hygienist partners with our dentist to determine if your health has changed over time. We examine the health of your gums, teeth, and perform a life-saving oral cancer screening at each of your appointments.
  • Some conditions are not visible to the naked eye. That is why we take routine x-rays to see what lies beneath the surface of your enamel and between your teeth. Decay can breach your protective enamel and cause damage below the surface. Decay often displays no symptoms until it is in its advanced stages. By then, it is often too late to save your tooth or it may require a root canal and crown to save it. X-rays allow us to diagnose conditions earlier when they are simpler and less expensive to treat.
