If you are facing an extraction or if you already have a few missing teeth, you are probably considering dental implants as a tooth replacement option. We get a number of questions about this at our Encinitas, CA dental office and provide this service for patients here in our office.

Providing the Best Treatment for You

In most cases, dental implants take a few months to properly integrate with your natural bone. Because they provide the best stability when it comes to replacing a missing tooth, we hope this will not deter you. Our patients always tell us that dental implants are worth the wait!

Here Is What You Can Expect with Dental Implant Treatment

First, we must place the dental implant into your bone. Dental implant placement is actually a relatively routine procedure and patients report less discomfort than with a dental extraction. In most cases, over-the-counter pain medications will do the trick.

Your dental implant will eventually fuse to your natural bone over the period of a few months – typically between 4-6 months.

Next, we will place a custom abutment on top of your dental implant. An abutment is a base that will hold your dental implant crown.

Finally, we place your dental implant crown. We custom design each dental implant crown so that it fits perfectly and feels comfortable. We even choose a shade that matches your natural teeth, so that it looks completely natural.

Benefits of Dental Implants

  • No food restrictions
  • Completely stable
  • Preserves your natural bone
  • Lasts for years – even decades!
  • Requires the same care as a natural tooth

The dental implant process may take a few months, but when you care for your dental implant properly, it can last many years – even a lifetime! You never have to worry about a dental implant moving while you eat or speak. If you have dentures, we can use dental implants to secure your denture in place!

A missing tooth can create anxiety about your dental health and appearance. If you have questions about replacing your missing teeth or if you want to learn if dental implants are right for you, contact our Encinitas dental office and schedule an evaluation with Dr. Scott Jordon. He is always happy to work with patients to help them make the best choice for their health.
