Dental Exams in Encinitas CA

If it’s been awhile since you had a dental exam, you might have anxiety about coming back to the office. What will Dr. Jordan find? Will I need a ton of work? What should I expect? Are all valid questions when taking the next step toward getting back on track with your oral health.

Here is what you can expect from a comprehensive dental exam at our Encinitas, CA dentist office.

Gentle, Compassionate Care

Dr. Scott Jordan has a gentle touch and a compassionate approach to the care he provides our patients – your dental exam will be no different! He will perform a full evaluation of your soft tissue – your mouth and gums – and look for any signs of conditions such as periodontal disease or abnormal lesions.

Next, Dr. Jordan will do a tooth-by-tooth exam. Some of the things he looks for include:

  • Decay
  • Cracks
  • Recession
  • Fractures
  • Changes in your dentition
  • Tartar buildup
  • Esthetics

His assistant will make notes in your chart as he identifies any conditions. There is no need to worry about what it all means – he will discuss everything with you at the end of his exam.

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer is a particularly deadly form of cancer, mostly because it goes undetected. Your dentist is often the first person to notice any changes to the tissue inside your mouth and on your tongue. Each dental exam at our Encinitas, CA dental office included a life-saving oral cancer screening.

Communication Regarding Your Oral Health

Once your exam is complete, Dr. Jordan will go over his findings with you. He will explain everything he sees and help you make a good decision about how to proceed. He can help you prioritize your treatment so that you can address any serious conditions first.

This time gives you an opportunity to ask questions and learn about how to achieve and maintain excellent oral health.
