Losing a tooth is traumatic for anyone. We completely understand that you will have many questions about the future of your dental health and appearance. At Scott Jordan DDS, we offer a wide variety of tooth replacement options to meet your lifestyle and needs.

When you lose a tooth, a number of biological reactions begin to occur. Your remaining teeth will naturally tilt toward the gap left by your missing tooth. That may mean your teeth and up at strange angles, may overlap or leave gaps, and could expose your roots, leaving them susceptible to decay.

Additionally, your jawbone depends on your teeth to regenerate and continue to grow. When you lose a tooth, you may begin to lose bone as your root is no longer there to stimulate growth. This can put your adjacent teeth in danger as their foundation falls away beneath them, leading to additional tooth loss.

That is why we recommend dental implants as a tooth replacement option to maintain your oral health. Because the implant screw mimics your natural root, it helps preserve your bone levels and keep your bite stable.

Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth. Single implants stand alone, so you can brush and floss them just like you would your natural teeth. Keeping your gums healthy will prolong the life of your dental implant. Because we create each dental implant crown individually, it will look just like your other teeth and no one will know that it is porcelain.

Most patients are healthy enough to have dental implants. Some medications, however, can complicate dental implant surgery and healing. Bisphosphonates used to prevent osteoporosis and other common medications may interfere with successful dental implant surgery.

We will perform a full medical history before we proceed in order to rule out any complications. If you do not qualify for a dental implant, don’t worry! We have other treatment options that will allow you to chew, smile, and laugh confidently.
